Requirements
-For appointment to the position: -
- a) Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- b) At least ten years’ experience.
- c) Is not a public officer or a tax agent;
- d) Has not at any time within the preceding five years been an employee of the Kenya Revenue Authority
- e) Has met his
-her tax obligations;
- f) Has not been convicted of an offence under any law; and
- g) Has not been adjudged bankrupt by a court of competent jurisdiction

Duties and Responsibilities
-A member of a tribunal shall discharge the following duties: -
- a) Participate in hearing and determination of all disputes defined by Section 13 of the Tax Appeals Tribunals Act No. 40 of 2013 as read with Section 11 of the Tax Appeals Tribunal (Amendment) Act No. 7 of 2022 which come before the full bench;’
- b) Recording proceedings in a clear and accurate manner;
- c) Approving, sign, issue and certify orders, decrees and certificates of costs and copies of proceedings;
- d) Writing awards, judgments, orders, rulings and decrees issued by the Tribunal;
- e) Driving the Tribunals vision and mission through the implementation of its Programmes and plans;
- f) Provide requisite professional and technical support to ensure the Tribunal attains a high level of competitiveness and ethical standards in its entire programmes.
- g) Undertaking any other duty assigned for the benefit of the Tribunal
- h) Possesses high moral character and integrity in accordance with chapter six of the Constitution.

- (d) Names of three (3) referees; two (2) professional referee and one (1) character reference;
- (e) Copies of National Identity Card (I.D), Passport or any other relevant identifiable legal documents;
- (f) Copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials and academic transcripts;
- (g) Applicant’s one (1) recent coloured passport size photographs
- (h) Shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates and transcripts during interviews
- Successful candidates will be required to submit valid copies of clearance certificates from the following bodies on Appointment: -
- • Kenya Revenue Authority
- • Higher Education Loans Board
- • Directorate of Criminal Investigation
- • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
- • A recognized Credit Reference Bureau; and
- • Clearance from relevant professional body.
- Applicants MUST take note that it is a criminal offence to provide false information and documents in the job application and the same will be verified by relevant bodies.
